I think you all know I love a good kids birthday party. Who doesn’t love a spot of birthday cake (or cake full stop for that matter!). Today we are sharing a super cute first birthday party for Hazel full of the sweetest details.
When your mum is Holly from Revelry Events you can be sure she knows how to throw a good party. It looks like the most beautiful family day full of fun and laughter. I adore the cute balls of wool as decoration and the cat whiskers face painting is just genius.
Cat Party
Since I’m always looking for an excuse to throw a theme party, and our daughter’s 1st birthday was coming up, when ‘cat’ became the first real word Hazel spoke (quickly followed by ‘meow’…) I knew it couldn’t really be anything else.
And so for our little kitten’s 1st birthday we set about creating an intimate cat-themed picnic in the park to celebrate.
We set out a feature table covered in pink cloth to host our themed nibbles – a cat cake, cat-face sandwiches complete with dill whiskers, cookies, fruit and popcorn. Scattered amongst the food display were pink yarn balls and blue-sprayed cat figures.
On each picnic blanket we laid out artisan deli sandwiches and mason jars of pasta salads.
A tipi, handmade by my dad, was set up for the babies for shade and play, and I made a sign and laid out some face painting pencils to encourage guests to paint on their whiskers and join in the fun!
Lottie loves teaching her girls to be cake baking and crafting supremos. It may be messy but she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Thanks so much Jessica! We pretty much struck lucky with the first word – would never have worked with something normal like ‘hi’ or ‘dada’! No one wants a dada theme!
The idea to use your daughter’s first word is utterly adorable. It is perfect for remembering it always! Other than that it is obviously a beautiful affair! Your daughter’s blue eyes are amazing too! And I just love the tipi, even more so knowing that it was made by your dad!
Thanks Anja! It was a real family affair – dad’s tipi and mum’s cakes, lots of fun! We also can’t get over that photo of her eyes, a real photo to cherish!
I love this, its so simply put together but has major “Wow”, I also love that it reflects your daughters first words!
