Following last week’s round up of the most popular blog posts of 2017, a couple of readers left comments to say they love the nursery tours but would also like to see more toddlers’ rooms as well as conservatory dining sets. So today we are doing just that and showing you around the playroom and bedrooms of Alexa (four years old) and Sebastian (two years old). They are possibly the most stylish toddler bedrooms I’ve ever laid eyes on.
Alexa’s bedroom is a girly-girl’s dream, and the safari map mural in Sebastian’s room is just the best thing I’ve ever seen. If you like the way mum Leoma has decorated and styled these rooms then be sure to check out the grown up spaces here and over on Rock My Style today.
The Playroom
I had a lot of fun putting this room together. It was basically a dark through room, with nothing to it, the fireplace had been blocked up and there were large doors leading to the conservatory. So we got these taken out and knocked down the frame, so it now opens up into the conservatory giving it loads more light/ We knocked back the bricks blocking up the fireplace and put in a wood burning stove, painted either side in chalk paint for the kids and put picture rails along the sides to pop family photos on. I love filling it up with childrens things, and have hidden all the garish bits in baskets and storage boxes.
Alexa’s Bedroom
It started with some balloon wall paper and went from there. It’s a girly haven and she is a very lucky girl to have her own en suite, which she insisted on having the door painted pink, like we have in the downstairs loo.
Sebastian’s Bedroom
His room started quite neutral and has been brightened up as we got to know the little man. He now has a bright yellow door with a world map full of animals, he loves to go through them when he wakes up and goes to bed.
Thanks for having us Leoma (and when can we move in?!).
Anyone else in love with that safari map wallpaper?!
The loves of Lisa's life are Rich and their kids, Lyra and Jenson. Although she does wish they would let her have a shower in peace every once in a while.
We just moved house so baby boy finally has his own room.I’ve been hunting for Nice wall stickers for a while. Where do the moon and stars and the elephants come from?
Great timing! We’re planning the move from E’s nursery to our bigger, spare room as she reaches 3. Some gorge inspiration there in Alexa’s room… Loving the balloon wallpaper!
Can I ask Leoma – are those standard storage boxes in the shelf units or a clever find?xx
I can help! The star ones are like GLTC but you can get them cheaper on a Facebook page called Gorgeous Little Things for Kids where they get GLTC stuff and seconds super cheap.
[…] So what better way to end the week than with a peek inside the upstairs rooms? And make sure you hop over to Rock My Family when you’re done swooning over these photos, as today we’ve also got a tour of the playroom and Alexa and Sebastian’s rooms. […]
This is lovely. I love the idea of painting the doors except ours are original 1850s cottage style and it would feel a bit like sacrilidge. I’m not sure it would go with the beams.
I love the wallpaper mural and had seen it a few times on Instagram and Pinterest. I couldn’t justify £300 when we’d be getting rid of it in a few years as he grows so I ordered it as a wall sticker from China. Think it was Amazon or eBay and it was only £4. It arrived in a few weeks. If you stick it on blue paint it looks very similar. It’s only 70 x 100cm though so it’s not as large but for £297 cheaper…..it fills a smaller space very nicely!
I must admit to be really struggling to decorate bedrooms. The babes are 3 and 1 so we don’t need the nursery guff. Prints in particular are hard – I don’t want anything too teenagery but likewise those that are A-Z seem a bit young? Would be good to have some posts on some in between age prints!
There are so many gorgeous prints to be found on Etsy – if you search nursery prints you’ll quickly find some artists that appeal. I have prints by HouseofHooray, the wheatfield, Helen dardik, norsekids, raincityprints and strawberry moth (among others!)
I love the painting of the doors too, this is now on my to do list. I have found some great inspo for 2+ on Rooomy, they’ve got a mag coming out later this month I think, might be work checking out?
Oh I love that mural and yellow door. Similar colours to my own toddler’s bedroom. While we’re on the topic, I’d love to see bedrooms of older children! I have a ten year old son due a bedroom redecoration and it is difficult knowing that it needs to suit an older child. Pinterest has a few ideas, but they’re often heavily styled or themed and feature expensive custom items. I’d love to see some real older child/teen bedrooms. His only ideas so far are that it must be purple, black and red… 😄
This is so cool! This year we’re moving our 3 year old into a bigger bedroom as he has so much stuff. Some great ideas here and I LOVE that yellow door, could stare at that all day (*off to do a Pinterest board*) X
Absolutely gorgeous, tasteful but also still full of lovely childrens’ things. The one from late last year was a bit too grown up and didn’t have much evidence of children being around.
Hi Becky, the shelves in the bedrooms and picture rails in the playroom were all made to measure by a carpenter. Ikea do similar styles, which you can cut down to fit.x
Wow I love how Leoma managed to create neutral and calm children’s rooms with that pop of colour that makes them so interesting and individual! The rooms are so beautiful!
Hi
All your rooms look amazing. We want to use the animal map wallpaper in our little one’s room in an almost identical position to yours. but when we’ve looked online we’re not sure if it accounts for the door – does it mean you lose some of the map or do they give you a section of the green to continue over the door and the other side?
Thanks very much!

Ooh that is a big help! Thanks Rebecca 😘😘😘 X
Thanks for the top tip! I love GLTC but struggle to justify the cost. This could be a dangerous facebook group!
Hi Karen, sounds like exciting plans. They are a mix of standard boxes form GLTC and Ikea. x

Thank you Rebecca. I agree its hard to get a balance sometimes. Wall stickers are a great option, sounds like a good plan. x

Thanks Jade! I like dark blue walls in older boys rooms or a black and white theme. x
Gorgeous rooms 🙂 Nice to have some inspiration! Can I ask where the rug is from in Sebastian’s room? Or has anyone seen a similar one! Thank you
Thank you Nicola! The rug is from The White Company. x

Thank you Bunny! x
Please can you tell me where the shelfie is from? That’d be ideal for our small nursery. Thanks

Hi Leoma, love your home, all so gorgeous! Can I ask what colour the yellow door is? X

Hi Leoma! For Sebastian’s room, is the blue around the yellow door (beside the mural) part of the wallpaper mural or is it painted to match the mural?
Hi please can you share where you got their pale blue kitchen from? Lovely room
Beautiful!! Can you share the paint shades?
