If you love interiors and decorating, or just need a little push to finish your latest project, then we have got a super exciting new Rock My Room challenge launching today over on Rock My Style.
Lauren has challenged herself to transform the living room in her new house in just 28 days and she is asking you to join in too. So whether you need to get a nursery ready for a new arrival or revamp the little’s room then we’d love you to take part.
It doesn’t even have to be a huge project. It could be something small like hanging some decorative touches or sorting the toy storage out. Whatever you are doing we really want to see. Simply tag us in on Instagram with #rockmyroom so we can take a sneaky peek.
Personally I am going to try to get Alice’s bedroom done (wish me luck!). I love how the room looks with its Ferm Living owl wallpaper but I feel it is time for a change. It’s been this way for over 4 years as it was previously Molly’s nursery so as a lover of all things interiors let’s just say I’m bored!
Alice has recently moved to a big girl bed so it seems the perfect opportunity. She also decided to pull one of her wall shelves off whilst trying to get a book so there is filling and repainting to be done anyway.
Here’s an idea of what I hope to do in the room.
So if you need a bit of motivation let’s all do this together. Lauren will be sharing weekly updates of her progress over on Rock My Style and I’ll hopefully be able to share Alice’s new room with you all soon.
Have you got a room you have been waiting to tackle or a small niggly job just waiting to be finished? Do tell us what you are planning and best get DIYing!
I’ve just finished reading and commenting on Lauren’s post on RMS and am hoping to join her in finishing our bedroom but the reason finally we started trying to decorate and organise is we are expecting our first baby in May. So it’s our bedroom first (which I hope to do along side Lauren) and then clearing out our small bed/junk room for the nursery. I’m not sure we’ll get both done in 28 days but the challenge has certainly given me a kick up the wotsit to get moving! Can’t wait to see how everyone gets on!
Yay, congratulations! That’s so exciting and don’t worry, we won’t expect you to do both rooms in 28 days (although the challenge is there is you want it!). Can’t wait to see the finished results xx
Just seen Lauren’s post on RMS loving the new abode. This has come at the perfect time, moved house a year ago and still trying to tie up all those finishing touches; we had a lounge we didn’t even sit in for a year but enough is enough. Like Sophie have a little due in April and have completed the painful task of de cluttering the junk room that will be the nursery. Have so far painted it Cornforth White but now to get to the fun part of styling! Too many decisions….good luck everyone, can’t wait to see the snaps x
Sooo exciting. Cornforth White is such a lovely colour and then you can add lots of loveliness on top. Looking forward to seeing the results xx
Ooh, I love this! We are renovating two rooms – (1) decorating the nursery which used to be a spare bedroom and (2) having our kitchen gutted and redone (beginning in a few weeks when I’ll be 36 weeks pregnant – ahem!).
I’m super excited about the nursery because we’ve already got quite far with it. Things we’ve already done:
– dismanted the spare bed and other furniture that was in there
– painted the walls Farrow & Ball Cornforth White – Rachel, snap!
– set up the cot!
Things to do:
– go to Ikea this weekend and buy chest of drawers, changing table, book case.
– consider what sort of nursing chair thing we put in there
– start on the soft furnishings!
Lottie, I may be shamelessly nicking some of your ideas for Alice’s room! 🙂
This sounds fab Kate! Getting the cot up is so exciting. We got the Ikea Malm chest of drawers which we used as our changing table. Nursing chair wise we got a reproduction Eames rocking chair (in the pic above). It was comfier than it looks. Steal away as then I can steal your ideas as I can’t decide!! xx
Yay for Cornforth White. We’re using this for our new fire surround!
Looking forward to hearing about everyone’s progress. x
Oooo Kate I cannot wait to see how your nursery turns out! Cornforth is just the best. The nursing chair is such a tricky one, is hard to find something stylish yet comfortable. Currently have my eye on this rattan one that just landed at cox and cox http://www.coxandcox.co.uk/furniture/rattan-wing-chair. With a nice sheepskin I reckon it would be a good option?! Very impressed your brave enough to commence a kitchen revamp at 36 weeks! Go you xx
Ooh, Rachel, that rattan chair looks so beautiful! I def think it hits the stylish but also comfortable requirements. Will def update with what we end up with.
Not so sure that ‘brave’ is the right word to describe our kitchen reno plans (‘crazy’ and ‘stupid’ spring to mind!!) but hopefully will all work out ok! 😉 xx
Perfectly timed post on here and RMS as we’ve just finished the nursery, apart from putting up a few of those brilliant IKEA ledge shelves. Then in a nesting frenzy, I decided last week the downstairs loo needed a makeover but it’s turned into one of those, ‘I wish I’d never started jobs’ so the motivational posts will help us get it finished pronto!
Blimey, take it easy Naomi! Although great effort on the nesting and hopefully you are just supervising whilst someone else does the hard work! Cant wait to see your finished results xx
Hi, looking forward to seeing how it turns out. Off topic but can I ask you whether the Eames rocker is comfortable for nursing / rocking a baby?
Hi Tara. I found it comfortable. I always added a pillow behind my back and sometimes under my arm. In truth by the time they were in the nursery they were that bit older so night feeds didn’t take as long. We still sit in it now for story time and I love it. xx
Thanks Lottie, good to know. I’ve been thinking about getting one for a while, think I’ll go for it now : )
