I love summer. I mean, who doesn’t? Kids running around in the sunshine, laughing, falling over, getting up again, whizzing round on their bikes. All. Brilliant. And they need to be appropriately dressed for such fun. Heres a round up of a few bits I’ve got my eye on for Leo for over the summer…

T-Shirts

I love Leo in a t-shirt or a vest. I love to see his tiny little arms on display. They remind me of how tiny he still really is. I’m a big fan of multi-packs when it comes to t-shirts. He can be a very messy boy and when holidays call and the slush machine is in full view and mini milks are out in abundance, we often find ourselves getting through a few a day.

I rate the multi-packs from Next highly. They wash extremely well and you can get them in packs of 4 and in a variety of colours from more bright shades to more neutral ones. You can also get similar from Mothercare. I love the prints in Mothercare too, I was casually walking past the other day and got drawn in to all the fabulously bright and cool prints they had on display, like this one with the little boats on.. I also got drawn to the gecko’s. H&M have a really nice selection of tees too that are always reasonably priced. and then there’s Zara. Possibly my all time favourite shop for (erm… me) Leo. I am in love with the YEAH! vest and the Hola Chica tee. Adorable. They also currently have these romper/dungarees stocked which look like the ultimate item of comfy clothing for lolling around the park in the sunshine.

Keeping Warm

Wether you’re staying in the UK this summer or headed overseas it is always an idea to have something warm to hand for chillier nights or slightly cooler days. There is still always the chance of the odd shower too when you have plans.

Did you know Mango does a kids range? Well if you didn’t, you do now. And flippin cool is this hoody from them? Granted I know it’s mainly white (for which I apologise in advance) but it’s so different from anything else I’ve seen.

Sometimes a sweater suits an outfit better than a hoody and I love this block colour job from Mothercare. If you like layers, you can’t go wrong with a demin shirt. You can throw it over a t-shirt (or a long sleeve tee like these excellently priced ones form H&M), a vest, a shirt… Anything. You’ll still have a lovely looking little boy in tow who’s just that little bit more cosy. And then there’s that chance of rain I mentioned… and back to colour blocking. This mac from Next is so fun.

For The Legs

Shorts, leggings, jeans, joggers; there’s something for every occasion. As with t-shirts, I like a good multi pack when purchasing shorts. Next offer as good of a range in shorts as they do in their t-shirt department. I am a fan of Gap for shorts. Leo lived in shorts from there last year. They are SO comfortable and wash very well too. Im particularly loving these denim effect comfies – perfect with either bright or more pastel t-shirts. I’m also loving this grey marl version… currently in the sale with stock too! Huzzah!

Then there’s back over to Zara. Their leggings are that perfect in between warm jogger and cool short. They are thin, lightweight and mean that if it’s a bit breezy your little can stay warm without over heating. Particularly loving the bright green pair. The chambray trousers from The White Company have a similar appeal to the leggings but they look a bit more formal… perfect for a little meal out on a balmy evening.

Accessories

I love an accessory. I have numerous sunnies, all those unnecessary stacking rings, all the sun hats. And I like to accessorise Leo where I can… All in the name of sun safety of course. These super cute sunnies are from River Island (you must check out their kids wear if you haven’t already… lots more options there!) There are tonnes of trilbys out there for kids these days and I’ve found the Boots Mini Club ones really good and they have a variety of colours available too. There is always the softer hat option too like this cute dino inspired one from Boden. Then there’s shoes… And another little job from Boden. These denim slip ons are perfect for the summer strolls along the canal or a trip to the harbour. Last summer we went to a few splash parks and I wanted Leo to have some extra stability on his feet around the pool and these Nike Sunrays did the job perfectly. They are soft, comfortable and dry quickly. They also come in a few colours from these simple black ones to crazy bright blue and orange.

So, there you have it. I hope this has given you some inspiration for summer shopping for your little boys. There really is a lot of lovely things out there for little men so please share with us anything you’ve found in your travels that our lovely readers (and me) might need to buy.
