I have a new found obsession with dungarees. Blinkin love them and I’m not quite sure why I left it so long before trying these wondrous items.

I always remember as a kid, dungarees were those slightly unfashionable items that pregnant ladies wore. They kind of disappeared from the fashion radar for a long while but are back with a vengeance. And are especially good for pregnant ladies! Seems those mums of the 80’s knew a thing or two.

After attempting to rediscover my style mojo I’ve been sporting dungaree dresses and am tempted to purchase a full on pair for the cooler months. They are just so practical for all manner of reasons. Great from a maternity wear perspective and then a god send for breastfeeding (why did I not discover this back then?). And now I just love a dungaree dress for casual daytime kid proof clothing. They are also one of those staple pieces that can see you through any weather with various layers underneath or on top.

Plus it means I can do a bit of twinning with the girls as there is nothing cuter than a mini dungaree on the littles.

So today I’m bringing you my favourite round up of all things dungaree. Happy shopping!

Maternity

If you want super comfy yet still stylish then grab yourself a lovely pair of denim dungarees like these from Mamalicious. They will see you though your pregnancy and provide you with a whole host of outfit options. Wear with flip flops and simple tee or add a funky necklace a little jacket for a smarter option.

For the warmer days some cute Topshop denim dungaree shorts would be perfect. As it gets a bit cooler just pop some tights underneath with little ankle boots to see you through in to the Autumn.

This little dungaree dress from Topshop will be an excellent investment for your maternity wardrobe as again it can be dressed up or down. Layer up with a long or short sleeve t-shirt or even a cute little blouse and you are good to go.

Dresses

I am in need of a few new dungaree dresses to revamp my wardrobe. I’d go so far as to say they are an essential purchase. Honest. They are just perfect for putting a t-shirt underneath or tights and boots in the winter.

These Moto cord dresses have had a lot of love with the team and are firmly on my wish list. They do seem to come up quite short though so thinking I may need to go for the tall range.

Sometimes I want to be a little bit more fun and this spotty dress is just that.

I am a little bit in love with this New Look cord dress. That blush colour is just sooooo pretty and it also comes in a soft grey. One can never have enough dresses so perhaps both are required….

Dungarees

The traditional dungarees is where I am struggling a bit. I’m still not entirely convinced that they will suit me or whether I will look like an overgrown toddler? I fear I may just need to take the plunge.

I’m thinking a good denim pair will see me through and will be opting for a darker indigo colour like these from Topshop as I find that colour more flattering on me than a a lighter pair.

Having said that these pink ASOS ones are really rather fancy.

My decision is between skinny leg or straight leg. Any suggestions on which may be more flattering? If opting for straight I rather like these with the halter neck.

I am a bit of a Boden fan and have my eye on this pair of dungarees. Just because the styles suit me and my shape. They are on the more spendy side but I always wait until I have a discount code or inevitable voucher.

Once I’ve got over my initial hesitation of the trousers a black pair may be a good investment. This pair from Oasis has a rather lovely cross back that I’m quite taken with.

Shorts

A pair of short dungarees would be a good buy if this weather continues to stay sunny or alternatively I could pop some tights underneath when it cools down.

A simple denim pair like these from New Look are fab and I like the little patch detail for it’s pop of colour.

This grey washed pair from Topshop have some cute detailing to make them a little bit more fancy.

Mini

I could buy so many dungarees for the girls. As babies there were an abundance of soft jersey styles, swiftly followed by those hardwearing pairs for all that crawling around. As potty training took over we have had to take a bit of a break from the full on dungarees and instead have moved on to the dresses instead.

I had multiple pairs of the Boden dungarees for the girls and they are simply the best. Their cord versions are so good for crawling/playing/general toddlerness.

This cord dungaree dress was a recent purchase for Molly and I adore it. I opted for the pink but am tempted to nip back for the denim version too. It is ideal with tights and a t-shirt for when the weather changes.

These little bunny rabbit dungarees from John Lewis are just the cutest. I mean full on adorable.

I have a bit of a love affair for the Little Bird Range. Mainly as I remember wearing similar myself as a kid. This velour pair look super cosy and the bright colours are so much fun.

Dad

If you really want to get a matchy matchy family going how about dungarees for Dad?! Anyone’s other half been sporting a pair recently?
