Hello, my name is Lottie and I have a shopping addiction. Ok, well maybe not that bad but it definitely feels like a lot of parcels have been heading through my door recently. I blame the fact that there is just too much cuteness at the moment. I find it so easy to buy for the girls and they really do need lots of new things. Honest.
Today’s post is all about dresses and skirts of which I may have purchased a few. Last week I packed up the girls summer clothes in to the loft. So sad to be putting away the little summer dresses and beach shorts. It means that summer is officially over and the darker nights are on their way. But it does give me the perfect excuse to make some new purchases and I thought I’d be so kind as to share a few finds with you.
Boden
I have recently picked up a few goodies for the girls from Boden. I probably sound like I’m sponsored by Boden but I just love their clothes for the girls. I love a bit of print and colour so they tick all the boxes and their dresses are just the cutest.
Alice will be sporting this Rabbit Dress quite a lot. It is beautiful. Super soft and just the right thickness for the next few months. The print and colour and gorgeous and I am loving all the peter pan collars out there at the moment.
I am also very tempted by this little knitted number. The yellow penguins are immense.
For Molly I have picked up this woodland print cord skirt. It has a slightly brighter colour scheme which should brighten the cold days up no end. I’m thinking a nice thick pair of wooly tights will complete the look.
La Redoute
Whilst browsing La Redoute after a rug recommendation from Lauren over on Rock My Style I found myself perusing the children’s clothes. They are just gorgeous. A little bit of Zara and a little bit of French chic rolled in to one. One word of advice is to buy a size bigger, especially on tops. I found them to be quite snug.
One of my first purchases was this gorgeous flannel navy check dress. It reminds me of one I had as a child and it is going be gorgeous with some new winter boots (more on those soon). It is also now in the sale at 50% off. Typical but good for you guys!
They also had lots of sweet skater skirts in a myriad of colours and patterns. This mustard yellow one may also have fallen in to my basket.
H&M
I’m rather happy H&M have bought back their cord pinafore. It’s a staple and at £10 is a bargain. I’m loving the burgundy colour but it also comes in pale pink and khaki.
Zara
Zara is on the mark yet again with their dresses and skirts. This gingham check dress will look super cute with a chucky cardigan and leggings for cooler days plus the dark red colour will be perfect for autumn days and even, dare I say it, Christmas.
Go a little bit boho with this embroidered dress. It’s a lovely caramel colour with gorgeous detailing. And there are tassels. Enough said.
For the older girls this pink skirt with applique belt is a great option. I know Molly would love it.
Next
Unicorns. I’m sold. The next tunic dresses have been a staple purchase over the years for us. Perfect with tights or leggings. This one has such a fun print and a touch of Bobo Chooses about it but for a bargainous £6.
I’m also loving this grey spotty dress. It has such fun colours and a beautiful shirred waist.
Do you think I can still squeeze Alice in to this uber cute hedeghog pinafore? It is the best. Plus it comes with tights and the bodysuit so you’ve got the whole outfit sorted.
Gap
A lot of the team are big Gap fans and take advantage of the many offers they have on. This denim dress is a classic staple with it’s Peter Pan collar and zip pockets.
For something brighter then how about this ‘Happy’ dress. It looks like a jumper and skirt but without the hassle of two items. It is currently on offer at half price.
Mothercare
Mothercare have seriously upped the style stakes at the moment. As ever it was Mrs O’Shea who pointed the team in their direction and they don’t disappoint.
The new Mylene Klass range is full of monchrome wonders and this Happy Bunny dress is a snip at £12.
I love a little floral dress and this one is in lovely Autumnal colours. It’s got that gorgeous old school charm. Much like this beautiful grey embroidered dress with smocking.
Little Bird always pull out the stops with their bright retro prints. This season is all about the fruit and veg and this skirt with braces is in a bold red colour with ditsy under skirt.
Sainsburys
Whilst you are doing your weekly shop you may be tempted to chuck a few of these in your trolley. I love this cable knit dress which is available in a few colours. It looks cosy and at £12 is a lot less than a lot of the other knitted dresses around at the moment. I also love this mouse knitted dress with it’s character face and bow detail.
This dark pink cord skirt is definitely on the list for Molly. With a glitter waistband and the loveliest embroidered winter animal characters it will be perfect with a jumper and boots for the colder days. It has a touch of Boden about it but for a lot less pennies.
John Lewis
I still love the John Lewis baby clothes and wish the girls still fitted them. The jersey dresses were always a great buy and actually quite a good price at around £12. This rabbit print dress is very similar to one we had when Alice was little. She wore it a lot. Or if you fancy an alternative woodland animal then this fox one is fab. There is also a unicorn print. Just had to mention it.
For the cooler days this stripe knitted dress has a lovely colour combo or for older girls this red and stripe version looks super soft.
I have bought this cord skirt for Molly for the last few years and they have been a great buy. I’m tempted to get a couple of colours this year. It washes well and the quality is fantastic.
So that’s my favourite dresses and skirts. There were a lot more but I had to limit myself somehow. Have you spied any lovely purchases that we really must know about?
Love that red gingham Zara dress! Have you heard of ‘little cotton clothes’ Lottie? Think it would be right up your street! Clothes made my sisters inspired by their childhood fashion, including berets and knee high socks ☺️ xx
It’s so cute isn’t it? Oooh, will go and take a peek. I reckon Molly good rock a good beret x
That Mylene dress makes a nice change. Although wouldn’t last 5 minutes with my muck monster!
I’m a tunic evangelist, I make most of Fern’s clothes myself and it’s even more soul destroying when they grow out of something you’ve spent time and effort on. The tunic styles I make in roomy, stretch jersey knit start off life as dresses ( like the grey Next dress in your post) but withstand multiple growth spurts as when they become too short to wear as dresses can be teamed with leggings and still look great… I also layer short sleeved tunics over long sleeve tops to get round the outgrowing sleeve length problem. These principles can be applied for shop-bought too to get the most out of each purchase!
Our Phirefly original is still at the top of the favourite dress list! (and she has the filth magnet rabbit dress too!) x
??
Ha ha ha. Yep, not the most practical colour I’m afraid. I am so impressed with you making your own clothes. I wish I could. I am practicing though and am currently making a doll for the girls which has a myriad of outfits. So far I have managed to cut the pieces out!! I’m a pro at sewing curtains or blinds, basically anything square, but clothes have always baffled me. Must get practicing xx
I find toddler clothes easier than curtains and blinds as they are so much easier to handle and manouvre. I started using PDF download patterns from etsy but they’re honestly so simple I now just draft my own. Half the battle is being confident with a machine so I bet you’d pick it up in no time! Here’s my latest creation…

ok stalker alert! LOVE your handmade tunics and dresses – you now have a new follower! and as if by magic I was directed from your page onto bobux and swiftly purchased those gorgeous wee jodhpur boots!! my little girl has just started walking and I have been struggling with what to put on her feet now it’s colder… mission accomplished! so, thank you! x
Like I said on Lolly’s post, I’m not enjoying the AW16 collections. Too much appliqué and Minnie Mouse for my liking.
Over the last few weeks, we’ve bought:
Stripe roll neck and green pinafore: https://m.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-girls'-pinafore-and-stripe-top-set-forest/p/2873225
A few of the Next tunics – but the red stripe drop skirt and the blue ‘normal’ tunic plus navy star. SUCH a bargain for £6 each. With Jojo Maman tights because I think they’re the thickest and warmest.
Tesco also have some lovely stuff in. We got some gorgeous t-shirts in a plum, pattern and navy. Sainsburys have a gorgeous navy cape for £16 but it’s only available in 3+ *sulks*.
This seasons colours are, and you saw it here last, plum, bottle green and navy. You’re welcome.
Also La Redoutte are AWESOME for babies or 3+ but hint their girl toddler range is freaking awful.
That pinafore is super cute. I may be adding that to my collection. I need to stock up on some new long sleeved t-shirts so I’ll check out Tesco. Oh and a cape sounds immense. xx
And this is also cute and better quality than the H & M:

Geberally I’m a fan of Primark for £1.90 long sleeved T’s with a small bow on the collar but they only have black and white. But for £1.90….and they wash brilliantly.
Also got a gorgeous navy spotted fleece for £3 from Primark which looks straight out of Joules
Aah this is all too gorgeous. Little E has that My K rabbit dress. Such a cute range xx
Hooray for buying lots of cute girls clothes. xxx
I share your online shopping obsession Lottie! Too many lovely outfits and love all the fox print around! Gone a bit mad in baby Joules! I stocked up last year on John Lewis animal print dresses in the sale. Got a few pairs of extra thick leggings and jumpers from jojomamanbebe, great for crawling!
I have already bought both girls the Boden knitted number in a nice Aqua colour, which I think will be good for layering.
I’m avoiding the big autumn/winter shop for the kids as we’re going on holiday next week so I’m hoping to eke out their summer wardrobes until after that – at which point I’ll do the big switch over. Which means I’ll then have to find all the bits I’ve been carefully squirrelling away for the past couple of months…!
Oh now I think I need the Aqua one. Shame it doesn’t come in Molly’s size. They look super cosy. Very jealous of your holiday but have fun and enjoy that last bit of sunshine xxx
Love so many of these! ? I’ve bought this fox print dress from Next for my little one, can’t wait to put her in it with some cosy tights! Such a bargain too at £6! X
