Ok, so you were probably thinking this post would be full of cute gifts for little ones but I’ve decided to hijack it for myself. Selfish I know but I reckon us mamas deserve a few treats now and again. Besides, it is actually my birthday in a few weeks so it’s justified to carry on our RMF birthday celebrations.
I don’t normally put together a birthday list. I’ve always been happy with surprises but this year there are a few things I do actually want so am subtly dropping hints (read giving Edd a list).
First up I really want a new watch. Obviously a Rolex would be nice but actually I just want something pretty that I can slip on my wrist every day. I always used to wear a watch then the battery went. That was probably about 6 years ago now! I could replace the battery but I have had my eye on these gorgeous Olivia Burton watches for a while now. The colours are so pretty and I particularly like the rose gold faces. I am currently debating between a dove grey strap or a pale pink. Decisions decisions.
Next up is something really small but I find that I’m not drinking as much water as I used to so a bobble bottle should help solve this. When I was in an office I’d drink litres every day but at home I just forget to walk to the tap.
Last Christmas Edd got me a gorgeous Whistles necklace (you can spy it on Rock My Style here) and I wear it all the time so it seemed only right that I request a new version this year. This is my necklace of choice at the moment.
I’ve reluctantly packed away my sandals and the boots are coming out. I normally go for flats but this year I quite fancy a pair with a small heel and have my eye on this Boden pair. Question is can I go all out and get the leopard print?
Finally, given my quest to update my makeup it would be rude not to add a few nice pieces to my list. I currently have a lovely Bobbi Brown palette but it is a little old now and I wonder if that is what is causing my eyes to hurt when I wear makeup. Fern turned up at our meeting this week with some very lovely makeup indeed and was raving about her Urban Decay Naked palette. Such beautiful shades.
Does anyone have any recommendations of anything else that I really do need for my birthday?
This is also useful for upcoming Christmas lists (yes I do like to get in there early!). Im in my 40th week now and have plenty of time to peruse online whilst waiting for our little one to arrive! Just another suggestion for a watch – if you like Olivia Burton but would also like to have a brand not many people know of, try out The Horse. It’s an Aussie company but they ship everywhere. I have the classic rose gold with grey strap (https://www.thehorse.com.au/collections/time-tellers_the-classic/products/the-classic-rose-gold-grey-leather-band) and wear it everyday! I’m always getting compliments!! Happy Birthday for a few weeks time! X
Oh my gosh, that watch is divine. Love it. Now I’m completely undecided on which to go for. Maybe I could have both? x
I think we must have similar taste Lottie as I always end up a lot poorer after reading your posts! Great suggestions as always 🙂
Can’t wait for some Xmas ones as well nearer the time x
Happy to be of help with some shopping enabling! I always struggle thinking of Xmas presents so soon after my birthday but now I will accept the challenge and come up with a super list for you! xx
I have my birthday coming up soon and am going for a full body massage, reckon us mums NEED one of them! 🙂 ha!
Now that is an excellent plan. In fact I’m pretty sure Edd owes me a spa day that I was promised on Mother’s Day ….. xx
I have that Urban Decay palette and I love it! It’s so good and great value- a stocking filler if you miss out on your birthday?
Good thinking Lucy. We have to do stockings now too as I don’t want the girls thinking Father Christmas didn’t visit mummy and daddy. That’s my excuse anyway!! x
I can’t believe how topical this post is for me! I’m 36 weeks pregnant and my birthday is in a couple of weeks time! It’s the big 3 0. Understandably my birthday has rather sunk in priorities this year (although I am planning a big joint bash in January with my best friend who’s birthday is December!).
That said my husband has taken me jewellery shopping this very morning! We went back to where he bought my engagement ring and we have ordered a bespoke necklace to be made as my birthday present. Who says romance is dead? I’m one very very lucky girl 🙂
Mummies and mummies to be definitely do deserve to be spoiled!!
Oooh you lucky thing Sarah. That sounds like an amazing present. The hubby did good. I was heavily pregnant for my 30th as well and think I managed dinner out, minus the champagne. Good excuse for a party later on as you say xx
Ooh Lottie, I do adore those boots, they are uhhhmazing. Especially in Leopard print, you so should! I’m quite tempted too.
It’s my bday in a couple of weeks and I’m hoping for a new iPad because my old iPad mini is in it’s last legs. I would also love a new rain mac and have seen some gorgeous ones in Joules (including a lovely bright red one) so will be droppping some heavy hints to the hubby! ?
Go on then. Leopard print it is!! Hooray for birthdays to replace old items and I may add a rain coat to my xmas list given how wet I got on the school run last week. Totally unprepared! x
Hi Lottie, my birthday is in a couple of weeks too and my hubby was only asking me today for ideas of what to get me. The thing is I am terrible with gifts and only tend to like things which I have suggested to people already – I know spoilt right. I have so far suggested a new pair of hunter boots But I am also in desperate need of a new purse/wallet which is big enough for cards and coins. i was hoping to find something in grey leather but can’t seem to find anything stylish and that doesn’t break the bank. Any ideas for any nice brands I can look at?
Hi Philippa- have you tried Matt and Nat? Also Oliver Bonas purses are lovely!
Love the boots, they are totally going on my Christmas list, adore the yellow but I think you should absolutely go for leopard print!
Ps It’s never too early for a Christmas list list right?! If I don’t start making a note of things now I’ll have forgotten it all by December…!
I have an Xmas list going at the same time Alice! I think the leopard print boots may be being purchased! xx
Olivia Burton watches are gorgeous – I had the same dilemma myself choosing between the grey and pink straps though so I went all out and got one of their sets with interchangeable straps! Godsend!

Interchangeable straps? Excellent idea! x
