Given a certain spooktacular date that is coming up this post was originally going to be filled with high street costume inspiration for your little ones. However, after trawling the shops I have to say I’m frankly pretty frightened by the offerings. Most of the outfits would be enough to give any toddler nightmares due to their severely scary nature. There are some lovely options out there but as ever they are a tad pricey. Being the crafty type I reckon it should be pretty each to make some home made versions too. Cute cat ears anyone? I’m waiting for the day we embrace the American Halloween trend of not having to be scary, just anything fun or fancy dress.

Quite a few of the team are looking for simple costumes to make for our little ones so to get our creative juices flowing I have popped together a little gallery of inspirational sizes courtesy of Pinterest.

I’m thinking a mummy could be pretty fun using a load of bandages wrapped round white tights of a t-shirt or how about a ghost with a piece of white material or sheet and some eye holes cut out?

Obviously you could get making some things like cat ears and a cat tail from a stuffed pair of old tights. Such a simple idea but super cute.

How about using the tights (again) to create a load of spiders legs which you can sew on to a black t-shirt.

The beautiful owl wings in the picture above could easily be adapted in blacks and silvers to create a spooky effect. You can find the DIY here.

Or create a skelton on a black t-shirt using white paint or even white tape.

And don’t forget the face paints. They can transform any outfit.

Has anyone got any amazing ideas for costumes that we can copy? Pretty please.
