If you’re a regular reader of our sister blog Rock My Style you’re probably all over the latest fashion trends. They are definitely a bunch of dirty enablers. They’ve shown us the best from the high street for metallic fashion, ruffles and frills, embroidered clothes, lace, cold shoulder tops, bomber jackets and more.
So whilst trawling through the internet after being enticed by yet another one of their posts, I was really pleased to see that these trends have spilled over to the maternity sections too. Gone are the days when maternity clothes have to be frumpy and boring. The high street is now awash with maternity fashion in the latest trends that you just have to see.
Next
I must confess I was on the fence with the whole embroidered fashion trend for quite a while, but since I bought my first item I can’t help but home in on it now, which is how I spotted this adorable red sweater. I love the fun badges on the shoulder, and the bobble effect knit looks super cozy for the winter months.
With Winter comes party season. This velvet top or metallic pink pleat top would be perfect to see you through the endless social gatherings. Looking equally fabulous dressed up or down.
Topshop
I love checking out Topshop’s ‘new in’ category and am quite often seen popping items into my virtual basket. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but they don’t seem to separate their collections in this section, which isn’t a bad thing, it just quite often means I am left lusting after a maternity item that isn’t in their normal range. This is most definitely the case for this metallic occasion dress. How fabulous would you feel donning that with your bump.
Keeping with the metallic theme I also spotted this gold metal jumper. And just incase you wanted to keep warm, but aren’t a fan of metallic’s this grey ruffle sweater, which I’m pleased to say is available in their normal range too, is utterly fabulous.
There wasn’t much I liked about my changing body when I was pregnant. Obviously I was in total awe of the tiny person growing inside of me, but my body confidence was quite low. I am a massive fan of the cold shoulder trend as lets face it, it’s a part of the body that doesn’t really change. There is no such thing as ugly shoulders. So get those shoulders out in this black top and feel body confident.
Mamalicious
I snuck this jersey dress into the post because although it doesn’t fall into the ‘trending now’ category comfort never goes out of fashion when you’re choosing maternity clothes, and this dress just screamed it. As well as looking totally fabulous of course.
I simply adore lace. It is SO pretty. It can literally transform a staple item into an amazing piece of clothing which is exactly what it has done to this jumper.
ASOS
As I said above I love lace, so it’s no surprise another lace item found its way into this round up. The spilt hem on this t-shirt is perfect for your expanding bump too. Proving pretty can be practical.
Ticking the comfort, metallic and ruffle boxes is this Bluebell long sleeve top. Über comfy and chic all at the same time sounds like a win, win to me.
I’m actually surprised I haven’t included more chunky knits in my round up. The rest of the team can vouch for me that my jumper obsession has reached an all time high this year. I would love to add this green jumper to my collection. It’s the perfect shade for the Christmas festivities.
New Look
As I included a metallic gold jumper, I made it my mission to also source a silver thread jumper. I was extra pleased with myself when I stumbled across this delicate knit for a mere £15.99. Then I found the sparkle belted dress for £22.99, and it almost made me wish I was pregnant again. Almost.
The bomber jacket trend has been here a while now, coming in lots of different fabrics and colours. To see this longline flecked bomber jacket was a real treat as it looks absolutely fabulous. Warm, stylish and undoubtably cool. It’s also in their regular range and I’m wondering if I can get away with it as my Winter coat this year?
As I said earlier, shoulders are never ugly so it would be rude to not include another cold shoulder top. Especially one as sweet as this ruffle number.
H&M
I can’t believe I haven’t mentioned the love for blush at the moment. We had a whole day dedicated to blush on all our blogs last week. Blush nursery interiors, blush home accessories and blush wedding inspiration. So it only feels fitting to end with this sweet frill blouse.
So there we have it, the latest fashion trends in maternity fit. Do you have a favourite trend you like, or will you just be sticking to basic maternity fashion?
Oh thank you for this post, it’s very timely as I’ve just found out I’m expecting twins (insert massively terrified face here) and within days it feels like none of my clothes fit. With my first pregnancy, I managed to wear my ‘normal’ clothes till about 5 months and even after that, I would just size up. That was 3 yrs ago though and even in that time, I think maternity wear has come on alot. These items are gorgeous, particularly loving the TopShop offerings. I feel some shopping coming on……
PS any posts on twin pregnancy/coping with twins would be massively appreciated!
x
Ah Anna massive congratulations. Do twins run in your family or was it a complete surprise? So excited for you. I’m sure everything will be fine & you’ll take to it like a duck to water, plus their older sibling will be a great little helper 🙂
We’ll definitely try and share some more multiple pregnancy posts in the future. Enjoy shopping. You deserve it xxx
Really great post! I’m 22 weeks just now and living in dresses without waistlines! I’ve bought one or two maternity dresses but they just look really ill-fitting at the moment (I’m sure they’ll be better later on). The thing I’m really struggling with is jeans, I usually live in Topshop Jamies but at the moment they don’t have any of the maternity ones available in my size. I settled for some H&M over-the-bump skinnies which have been useless, really saggy and constantly falling down. Does anyone have any recommendations of long, properly skinny jeans at all? It’s driving me mad and preventing me from investing in any nice tops like the ones above!
I also second the cold shoulder trend as the way to go, this dress is really comfy with lots of space: http://www.zara.com/uk/en/woman/special-prices/view-all/dress-with-frills-c862008p3678619.html. At £15.99 it doesn’t feel too much to spend even if it doesn’t last too long! I also picked up this ASOS dress: http://www.asos.com/asos-maternity/asos-maternity-bardot-dress-with-half-sleeve-in-white-leopard/prd/6845892?iid=6845892&clr=Whitebaseleopard&SearchQuery=LEOPARD%20MATERNITY&pgesize=21&pge=0&totalstyles=21&gridsize=3&gridrow=5&gridcolumn=3 which I’m hoping will come in very handy over the next few months. x
Becky was a huge fan of the Topshop Leigh Jeans, have you tried those as an alternative to the Jamie ones Rebecca?
Hopefully as your bump expands the H&M ones will stay up for you. Very frustrating in the meantime though.
i love the Mamalicious range and as an extra bonus they have 20% off jeans this week http://www.mamalicious.com/gb/en/mm/hiddin-categories/20%25-on-selected-jeans/ xxx
I have to say that I found the Jamie maternity to be a different shape to the normal ones. I thought they could have been better fitting around the ankle. H&M were also rubbish for me but I ended up with Topshop Joni jeans and thought they were fab, really skinny but very comfy and don’t feel like maternity because they are under bump which means I don’t feel weird wearing them now that baby has arrived and I still can’t get into my usual size ?
They are definitely a god send post baby aren’t they C xxx
Thank you so much for this! My 12 week scan is next week (eek) and all being well I definitely intend to get shopping soon. Maternity shopping seems like a whole other world, but it’s nice to see that there are lots of pretty things out there.
Wishing you all the best for next week. My youngest is 3 now and I think maternity fashion has come on a long way since even then. You should definitely check out our Maternity Basics post too. Lots of essential items to see you through. http://rockmyfamily.wpengine.com/maternity-basics-seasons/ xxx
Thank you! That post is so helpful! I definitely intend to shop – my usual work wardrobe of pencil skirts and fitted dresses already doesn’t work for me, and as a pretty tiny person, I’m sure I’m going to be huge. All being well next week, I will get the online shopping going 🙂
Good Luck xxx
Just coming back to say that all went well and I’ve started my shopping 🙂
I find it really frustrating that so many shops only have maternity clothes online. It’s really hard buying for your changing shape without trying on.
Incidentally I bought h&m jeans and at 19 weeks with a wee bump I like them. It is bizarre wearing jeans up to your armpits but I find them comfy.
This made me laugh a lot Fiona.
It is frustrating now being able to try on the clothes, as if we need all the extra trips to the post office for returns. We’re supposed to be resting. xxx
