It’s been a little while since we bought you a super cute nursery tour so we thought it was high time that was rectified. I am a sucker for a lovely room and am always convincing myself that I need to redecorate the girls rooms. Honestly, they do need that new bedding or another sweet print for their walls. Pinky promise.
Today’s nursery is one full of gorgeous details and an overall feeling of calm and simplicity. Claire has worked hard to create that classic feel with just enough of an injection of colour and personality. There is a fabulous Ikea hack on the wardrobe which I may be stealing for Alice’s room. If you want some more great Ikea hacks then take a peek at the one’s shared over on Rock My Style last week.
It seems the perfect little space to me and has been wonderfully captured by the lovely Carley Buick Photography. I’ll hand over to Claire to tell you a little bit more about the design and also share a few of her purchases and finds with you all. If you want some more sneaky peeks you can follow her on Instagram at @mumandflynn. Enjoy.
My design inspiration was from scandi designs I had seen on Pinterest and Instagram. I loved the neutral colour scheme and thought it created a light, calming vibe for the nursery. I thought some of the designs I had seen were a bit stark so went for a pop of colour with the mint green and pale blue.
I was conscious of creating a nursery which was timeless and classic rather than having bright colours containing current popular children’s characters. The walls were painted in Farrow and Ball Strong White and added Farg Form grey cloud wallpaper from This Modern Life for its bold graphic pattern.
I struggled to source all the bits and pieces I was looking for in Edinburgh so I took a trip to London. I visited Harrods which gave me further inspiration but sourced the products cheaper online or in smaller boutiques.
For furniture I chose the Stokke Sleepi in White and created an open display unit from an IKEA Pax wardrobe without the doors. The white chest of drawers and the cloud rug were both from Maison Du Monde and the White Pop side table and Charles Eames rocking chair were from Cult Furniture. The brown round rug is from M&S.
In terms of decorative items we got the star night light from This Modern Life, the Little Gent Print was from Didi and Bud and the Elephant Head from Hurn and Hurn. The textiles such as the cot bedding, blankets and towels were from The Nursery Window and our cute building blocks, bunny hanger and wicker baskets are from Olive Loves Alfie. Finally the cloud mobile was a beautiful handmade gift from a friend.
Lottie loves teaching her girls to be cake baking and crafting supremos. It may be messy but she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Oo lovely. I’m finally tackling decorating Ophelias room so that it’s properly hers this weekend. White, gold, pinks and greens. Attempting to make it Pinterest worthy; wish me luck!
[…] fix then I recommend that you pop over to our sister blog Rock My Family for the most exquisite nursery tour on the blog today. It is so beautiful! I promise you that by the next time I post another house […]
Love this, such a beautiful relaxing space. We’re currently gathering together furniture and decor for our little one who’s due in 6 weeks – again, grey, mint and white are the neutral colours we’re going for, although there’s already a fairly dark grey on the walls. Can you tell me where the stool is from please?
Hi Rebecca, The stool is from TK Maxx so worth keeping an eye out. Lauren got something similar from Wilkinsons recently though with the added benefit of hidden storage. x
I love the sheepskin rug on the chair as well. Do you remember where you got it from? I think Olive loves Alfie have stopped doing the lovely bunny hook and baskets now 🙁 Such a beautiful room though. We have just started decorating our nursery so great to get some tips.
Do you think the chair would be suitable for breastfeeding? I’ve been looking for a breastfeeding chair but the only “nice” one I’ve found is 700 quid!
I really recommend the IKEA strandmon armchair for breastfeeding. Preferably with an option to put your feet up. You will still want a feeding cushion of some kind.
15 months later, ours is still going – also good for cuddling up for a bed time story!
Hi Emma. I had this chair with my girls and it was fine for breastfeeding. I popped a few throws on and a cushion for behind my back. The arm rests were good for a bit of support too xx
Anon for obvious reasons ?

So gorgeous! Everything just comes together in such a calm way.
My question, prompted by Christmas, is how you keep spaces lovely like this in the face of the well meant but not my taste bits people buy for your child’s room? I’m not putting them up but then where do they go?? A whole post in there, minimalism vs mother in law!

LOTS and lots of baskets Anon! Hector has a whole heap of horrible plastic tat accrued from numerous sources that I shove into rather tasteful wicker baskets at the end of the day when he’s gone to bed. We can look into tasteful storage for you as a post if you would like….?
It’s not the toys so much Lolly, as you say a bit of storage hides them! It’s the huge candy pink cupcake shaped whiteboard with her name on that is meant to be hung up.. and things like that! Lovely for someone but not our thing… I’m such an ingrate!
Ha ha. I am the same. I just redecorated Alice’s room and it’s looking lovely. My Father in law then gave her a not so lovely garishly bright fleece troll blanket for Christmas. Granted she is trolls obsessed but it does not quite go with the decor I had in mind! I am being a nice mummy and letting her have it (for now!!!) xx
Another vote for finding out about the lovely sheepskin here This is such a beautiful room!
I find taking photos of the offending clashing objects from well-meaning friends and family on display in the room they were purchased for, perhaps just in the background so it looks like they are hung/displayed, and sharing them where the person will see them works well. Then you can hide the offending objects and if the person visits, say you’re rotating the artwork/objects/toys so the room never gets boring! Everyone is happy and you don’t have to have a difficult conversation (though you’ll require plenty of storage for the offending tat). ???
Oh I’m so thick – sorry! I have now read to the end and found the chair!! I’m another one who would like to know where the sheepskin on top is from! Thanks! Lovely inspirational post – usually when you see such rooms every piece of furniture is extortionate, so it’s nice to see affordable pieces – thanks xxx
I’ve bought the chair and sheepskin!! It’s going to be such a beautiful addition to my little boy’s room now we have moved the nursing chair for baby number two! I’m hoping to use it for toddler bedtime stories – thanks for the inspiration! X
Love the sheepskin colour, please could you share where you purchased? X
Hi Lou. I’ll try and find out for you. Thanks x
Hi Lou. It was from John Lewis xx

Oh this sounds lovely Claire. I have pink, gold and mint in Molly’s room and love the combo. Happy decorating x
RMF you must have read my mind! This is exactly what I want our nursery to look like. What a calm room, with beautiful details, love it!
Excellent choices Marianne. Good luck with the nursery decorating xx

It’s so lovely isn’t it? I think I would like to sleep there myself! x

Hi Beth. The sheepskin is from John Lewis. Oh that’s a shame about the bunny hook as it is super cute. This Modern Life have some cute hooks (http://thismodernlife.co.uk/collections/hooks-knobs) x

Hi Sarah. The sheepskin is from John Lewis. Excellent plan on the hideous tat. May steal your idea!! xx
Thank you! Xx
The chair is beautiful – in fact the whole room is but I’m in the market for a new chair! Please could you tell me where it is from? Thanks! X
