The girl’s have been looking forward to Easter for a long time. Since last Easter to be exact. Molly is getting unbelievably excited as we get nearer the day. Well, I guess it is a bit like a chocolate version of Christmas so what’s not to love!

I’m going to try my best to keep chocolate highs under control (and not just for the kids) so am planning a whole heap of fun over the Easter weekend. Plus with Edd at home for 4 days it’s a great excuse for me to nag him to finish off a few jobs around the house.

Entertaining The Kids

When it comes down to keeping the kid’s entertained there are so many fun activities. Ok, so most of them probably involve chocolate of some description but that’s half the fun.

It wouldn’t be Easter without an Easter Egg hunt. We will be planning a fun hunt for the girls around the house and garden, weather permitting. It’s the cutest to watch them searching around for little treats. This egg hunt kit looks like a definite winner to me so I’ll be using it to guide the girls as they follow Easter bunny. I’ll be getting some sweet baskets like this pink trug or amazing ladybird basket for them to fill with goodies. And there will need to be eggs. Of the chocolate variety of course. I’m not sure I can beat Grandad’s egg hunt last year though. He actually hid kinder eggs in the real hen house and the girl’s could not believe that the chickens had been laying actual chocolate eggs. It was magical.

If they are lucky there may be a non chocolate gift at the end of the trail. I adore these soft Jellycat bunny and chick. They would look super cute hiding in the grass.

Molly loves a spot of crafting so we will be sitting down to make Easter cards for family and these cute stickers will make it an easy task. Just hoping they don’t end up stuck around the house.

Alice is a bit of a book worm and her absolute favourite is still her Jellycat ‘If I were a Rabbit‘ book. We will be sitting down to read this a few times I’m sure and it also makes the perfect little non chocolate gift.

Baking

Now it wouldn’t be Easter if I didn’t get a bit of baking done. And it’s the perfect time to get the kids involved as there are so many easy peasy recipes for them to help with. You can’t go far wrong with some tasty cornflake cakes. Mix up cornflakes, chocolate and a smidgen of butter and golden syrup. Then press in to a bun tin and leave to set. Fill with teeny eggs and mini chicks.

Some cute Easter biscuits always go down well. Weigh out the ingredients for basic sugar cookies and mix it all together in a lovely bright bowl. You can find the recipe over on Rock My Style. Cut out in to cute bunny shapes then let the kids loose with icing tubes in pretty Easter pastel shades. We will then package the biscuits up in these amazing Carrot treat bags. They are the best.

I’ll also be making some chocolate cupcakes. Mainly as Molly seems obsessed with buttercream at the moment. Then again who isn’t? I wouldn’t be able to make mine super fluffy without my trusty Kitchen Aid. Honestly, it gets a lot of use with all my cakes. If you don’t fancy cake baking from scratch then you can always grab a packet mix. I won’t tell!

Cooking up a storm

I must admit I do love Easter lunch. It is normally a roast of some description but I try to keep it a bit lighter with a medley of minted spring veg and roasted new potatoes. I pop everything out on the table in my trusty Le Creuset bakeware and let everyone help themselves.

I’ll pretty up the table with some fresh spring flowers but am also planning on a bit of a twig centrepiece. The girls can hang these cute felt ornaments from them for a fun Easter display accompanied by these sweet wooden bunny rabbits.

Outfits

As much as I would love to dress the girl’s up in Easter bunny outfits I think they would probably take them off after a few minutes. Instead I think I will opt for some more subtle touches like this Joules bunny T-shirt and some cute bunny socks. I may even tuck them up to bed the night before in this sweet bunny nightdress.

I’m very tempted to purchase this adorable bunny cardigan for a friends little one. It’s the best.

Finishing the Jobs

Whilst the kids are occupied with a few games and crafts I am hoping we can blitz our never ending to do list around the house. Or maybe I can put my feet up and Edd can do it! Our main task for this Easter is to sort Alice’s bedroom out. She needs some new shelves after she decided to pull them down so I’m thinking of some freestanding options like this fabulous A frame Bookcase to avoid the same issue. At least then she can reach everything she needs.
Ideally I would love to invest in a Stompa curve bed to sort out the space and storage issues in her room but for now we may have to make do with some fun new animal and flamingo bedding.

Around the rest of the house we need to finish some small bits and pieces like adding doorknobs to cupboards. I rather like these brass hare ones for the lounge. Talking of the lounge I’ve been coveting a new rug and this Fusion Berber rug would fit right in.

If it’s dry I’m hoping Edd may tackle the garden as it is suffering a serious case of winter blues. For starters the lawn needs a good mow and then I think I will be tackling the task of adding a few accessories. I absolutely love these grey planters and troughs and a few garden lanterns for if we do ever get BBQ weather again.

Escape it All

And if it all seems just a little bit too much then I can always just escape for the weekend. I will be super jealous of all of you jetting off or packing up for a fun few days away. Whether that be to sunnier climes or the good old British Seaside. Why is it that now that I go away I seem to require a monster sized suitcase plus copious holdalls filled with all manner of paraphernalia. We’ve got this North Face duffle bag and I swear it is vast. I can get so much in it and it squishes well in to the car for family holidays. And if you are heading to the sunshine you may just need this Flamingo holiday set.

Do you have plans for Easter weekend? What are you looking forward to (other than the chocolate!)?
