There is a definite chill in the air now as Autumn is slowly making way for winter. I know that personally I’ve gone from dressing the girls in long sleeved tops to full on woollens. I’m also the mum who turns up at pre school inevitably forgetting the essential hat and gloves for forest school! Definitely time for a winter shop I think.

On my shopping travels I have come across so many lovely knitted items that I just had to share them. I’m half wishing they made a lot of them in my size as there are such lovely colours and prints.

Jumpers

I have actuallly purchased this gorgeous hedgehog jumper for Molly and she loves it. The little character is really cute and being Boden it washes really well. Available from 18 months through to 12 years.

You can always rely on Zara to produce the the most fabulous children’s clothes and I adore this cute teddy jumper.

I’ve always loved Donna Wilson’s designs and her children’s clothes for John Lewis are always lots of fun. This Robin jumper is perfect for the run up to Christmas.

This smile jumper from Gap is sure to brighten up a dreary winter day.

Cardigans

The cutest little deer cardigan I ever did see. Just look at that tail. Marks and Spencer may just have found my favourite here. If only I could shrink the girls a bit!

I have been admiring this little Next cardigan for a while. The soft blue will go with most outfits but the characters add a bit of fun that little ones will love.

This hooded cardigan from Gap has soft jersey lining and is also reversible to give two different looks. Plus it has the obligatory teddy bear ears on the hood!

The White Company have produced the perfect starry cardigan for a little girl. You always need a neutral cardigan but this has a lovely subtle pattern to make it that little bit special.

Rompers

Molly was a tiny baby in the depths of winter and I adored putting her in soft knitted rompers to keep her cosy. I love this cloud design from Zara and may possibly be purchasing it for a few friends!

You can trust Jools Oliver and her Little Bird Range at Mothercare to produce some classic designs that hark back to our own childhood. I love a bit of fair isle and this romper looks super cosy for chilly days. The beauty of the little bird range is most items suit a boy or girl so can easily be passed on to siblings.

A hedgehog in a party hat? I’m sold. Boden have created yet another amazing design in the softest knit with this jumper and trouser combo. It comes in designs for both boys and girls to keep everyone happy.

This little knitted jumper and leggings set from Mamas and Papas is ideal for babies as the leggings can easily be removed for nappy changes and you could mix and match the two items with other things to create more outfits. It also comes in cream if you are feeling brave!

Dresses

H&M always have some great children’s clothes at even better prices. I love the simplicity of this little dress and it comes in a range of colours too.

I so wish this little outfit from Next came in bigger sizes so that both the girls could have it. Classic Navy with a cheeky cat’s face. And a stripy top to complete the look.

This signature Joules Robin dress is the perfect festive outfit but not too Christmassy that it can’t be worn long after Santa has been.

The colours in this dress from Marks and Spencer are so pretty and I love the mitten detailing on the pockets. I know Molly would find this so funny to have ‘gloves’ on her dress.

Trousers

Knitted trousers are just the cosiest for little legs when the weather gets cold. Perfect under a dress or with a cosy sweatshirt. John Lewis has a great selection (of which Alice has quite a few) but I do rather like this bright stripey pair.

H&M always have the classic knitted leggings in a range of colours and at this price you can afford to stock up.

For the older girls Gap have produced some rather fun knitted joggers which look super comfy. The star design on this Navy pair looks great and they also have a rather nifty fair isle print too.

Hats, Gloves and Scarves

Hats and gloves are essential for keeping little ones snug in the winter months. Boden have always been one of my favourites for the sweetest designs and I’m loving this winter scene design hat and mittens. The ear flaps mean no nasty chills getting in either and a button allows you to fasten under the chin to stop baby pulling it off.

This reindeer hat and mittens from Marks and Spencer would be perfect for winter walks or festive fun.

When I was a kid I had the best ever cabbage patch earmuffs from America. Quite why I wanted to walk around with ever so slightly scary faces attached to my ears I’m not sure but since then I have a slight obsession with earmuffs. These fox design ones from John Lewis are sure to keep little girls happy and ears toasty warm.

Next have a great range of hats and I really rather like the soft grey of this hat, scarf and glove set. Ideal to go with every outfit.

Have you spotted any lovely knitwear that I really should be purchasing? I honestly DO need more excuses to shop for the girls, I promise!
