The end of this month is that day that is all about us lovely mums. And our own mums of course. It is obviously not all about the presents and I’m seriously looking forward to those gorgeous homemade gifts that they bring home from school. You know the pencil pot that is covered in glitter but you treasure non the less. I’ll often get some nice flowers and some chocolates (or dolly mixtures!) which is enough for me. So long as they are accompanied by a lie in of course. However, it is always nice to have a peruse of a few Mothers Day gift ideas.
If you fancy leaving this page open for your other half to see feel free. I do always get my own mum something too, especially as she helps me so so much with the girls. I should probably be buying her some diamonds for the amount she has saved me on childcare over the years. Mum, if you are reading this you aren’t getting diamonds I’m afraid!
So in the interest of sharing the mothers day love here are some of our favourite gifts to both give and receive.
{Mothers Day Gifts}
{Sentimental}
To be honest one of my favourite things to give is a photo. I always try to get the most recent one of me and the girls to gift to my own mum and try to find a pretty frame for it. One of the loveliest gifts I had when the girls were younger was a photo session which resulted in the most wonderful pictures that I will treasure for years. Obviously a bit more pricey but so worth it. If you are looking for some wonderful children’s photographers then do take a look at our Littles List.
If you are bit of a sentimentalist then how about a gorgeous memory book? Somewhere to record all those special moments or even the funny things kids say. This gorgeous notebook from The Littles List member Meminio would be perfect. I am also in love with this wonderful ‘Birthday Letters To My Baby‘ book from Emily Rollings where you write a letter to your child each year on their birthday. I think it would make the most beautiful keepsake and a wonderful gift on your childs 18th birthday.
I think a good print is always a great gift. There are some beautiful quotes about or there are lots of personalised options on Not On The High Street. I bought this graphical family print for Edd on Fathers Day and it now sits proudly in our hallway. Also, I’m pretty confident we all need this ‘I am Superwoman’ print from Tea & Kate.
{Keepsakes}
Lorna has a really cute tradition where she buys her mum a new piece from the Royal Albert collection each year. This is such a lovely thing to do.
I have also always wanted to have a gorgeous piece of jewellery which is personal to the girls. I adore the name necklaces from Anna Lou of London but not sure I could get away with wearing two in a sort of layered effect? Has anyone else done this? I also love the Rachel Jackson initial necklaces from Roses and the Stars. They are so simple and sweet. Oliver Bonas also has an amazing range of jewellery, like this cute bracelet, at very reasonable prices.
Obviously once you have the lovely jewellery you need somewhere to put it. I randomly got rid of my jewellery boxes a while back and most now sits in various random little boxes and dishes. This sweet little apple from Oliver Bonas would be lovely on a bedside table and I am also currently coveting the Stackers jewellery boxes for bigger storage.
{Scented}
A lot of mums just long for five minutes peace so how about a little relaxation with some gorgeous products from Cow Shed. These goodies smell divine and I’m pretty confident any mum could do with a bit of a ‘Knackered Cow’ pick me up! Accompany with a lovely Neom candle and a good book. I know my mum would definitely appreciate this.
As I said, I love nothing more than a lovely bunch of flowers. It could be a bunch from our lovely local florist or if you are organised get one ordered from the likes of M&S. I am particularly loving Hyacinths at the moment as I adore their scent and the hint of spring they bring. You can also get a free box of chocolates worth £5 on selected flowers and free delivery on all orders for Sunday 26 March. Win Win. I also love supporting the independents and currently love the beautiful Recipe for Flowers with her gorgeous creations that can be delivered across the UK. She’s a mummy herself so know exactly what busy mums need to cheer them up. Or how about a flower subscription from the likes of Bloom and Wild?
{For You}
Carrying on the floral theme these liberty print shopping bags from Coco & Wolf are too pretty just for your milk and bread.
A new lipstick would also be rather welcome. I seem to have lost them all/had them pilfered by small people and stashed down the back of the sofa. I’m after something with a bit of colour so all suggestions welcome. Currently thinking the Mac Creme Sheen in Speak Louder. My mum is a bit like me and doesn’t wear a lot of makeup but I recently fell in love with this Bobbi Brown tinted lip balm which I think she would love.
Or how about a nice bottle of wine? Wine is always good.
And finally. You might think me all mushy and roll your eyes but the best present ever is a hug from my little ones. And maybe breakfast in bed!
